Chicago Bites #76 Le Village Buffet
01/10/2007
Our little friend made for a delightful dining companion. He certainly wasn't edible. Welcome to Las Vegas week at Chicago Bites where we try to capture the highs and lows of the Vegas dining scene. In the first of four podcasts, Bridget and I seek to capture the quintessential Las Vegas dining experience -- the buffet -- for the enjoyment of "the folks back home". Listen in as we weave our way past station after station in the quest for something to eat. They know how to do fries right at Bouchon.
Tammy and I are back from our dining fest, and as you might imagine, we need a little R&R. So tune in next week for details about Las Vegas. And in the mean time, feast your eyes on what could possibly be the world’s best French fries. Let them be a sure sign of good things to come!
Vegas, Baby, Vegas!
18/09/2007
Baby, Vegas" What's behind curtain number 2? Maybe we'll tell you when we get back!
T and hit the road again tomorrow, and this time we’re headed for the strip. You know the rule "What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas? " That’s usually true. But this time, we’ve agreed to report back about what we ate during our visit. Is Vegas a food mecca or a tacky smorgasbord? We aim to find out.
Stay tuned for all the juicy details! As for everything else that may or may not happen in Vegas, the old rule applies.
Chicago Bites #75 Tizi Melloul
17/09/2007
Fire-roasted mussels in harissa butter and olives were a few of the wonderful appetizers we enjoyed. I'm just going to lay it out there -- order the goat cheese creme brulee. Tizi Melloul has other things on the menu and while we tried and enjoyed many of them, they were a lead-in to the dessert that Bridget calls "one of the best I've had this year". How did the rest of the meal hold up? Listen in and find out! (6.4 M) 00:00 - 02:50 On shower stalls and dimmer switches 02:51 - 05:10 Spicy appetizers 05:11 - 07:07 Skin on or off? Chicago Bites #74 New York City Deli Tour
14/09/2007
Cheesecake toped with cherries at Carnegie Deli is the perfect way to start the day. In this podcast, the third and final from our trip to Manhattan, Tammy and I review two of the city’s most famous delis. Carnegie Deli is known for its cheesecake and Katz Deli for its sandwiches and that scene from the movie When Harry Met Sally. Thank you again to everyone who gave us dining recommendations. Unfortunately, we can’t review them all, but we appreciate you steering us in the right direction. Diana, we loved the Boathouse Restaurant. Central Park is amazing! Kece, Ruby Foo’s was all you promised it would be. And Aixa, Havana Central was a lot of fun! We have an entire New York City archive of restaurants still to explore, so don’t be surprised if we set out for the east coast again.
