26/09/2007

Today is Happy Wednesday Your "Power" Day! Do something to empower yourself. Today I am excited to share 8 tips of how you can give a gift that requires little time or money, yet can make a huge difference in your life as well as someone else's. It's called "Give a Gift" written by an unknown author. Give a Gift - #1 THE GIFT OF LISTENING... But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening. #2 THE GIFT OF AFFECTION... Be generous with hugs, kisses, pats on the back. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends. #3 THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER... Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you." #4 THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE... It can be a simple, "Thanks for your help," note. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime. #5 THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT... A simple and sincere, "You look great," "You did a super job!" can make someone's day. #6 THE GIFT OF A FAVOR... Every day, go out of your way to do something kind for at least one person. #7 THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE... There are times when we want nothing better that to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the give the gift of solitude to others. #8 THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION... Words Can Leave Scars

19/09/2007

Today is Happy Wednesday! Your “Power” day! Do something to empower yourself. Today I would like to share a story with you written by an unknown author. It’s called “The Fence.” There was a little boy with a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him to hammer a nail in the back fence every time he lost control. The first day the boy drove 37 nails into the fence. Then it gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. His father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father then led his son back to the fence. “You have done well, but look at the holes in the fence,” he said. “When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like the nail holes. It won’t matter how many times you say ‘I’m sorry,’ the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical wound.” This is Joanie Winberg, The Happy Wednesday Lady See you next week!

Be Yourself

12/09/2007

Today is Happy Wednesday! Your "Power" Day! Do something to empower yourself! Today’s quote is from Mister Rogers- "I don’t think of myself as somebody who’s famous. I’m just a neighbor who comes and visits children; I happen to be on television. But I’ve always been myself. I never took a course in acting. I just figured that the best gift you could offer somebody is your honest self, and that’s what I’ve done for lots of years. And thanks for accepting me exactly as I am.” Today’s tip - Can you imagine how you would feel if you could be yourself, your true self without judgment or the fear of being ridiculed? To be accepted and appreciated for who you are. To have your thoughts and values accepted, even if they are different than the norm. How would you feel? Would you feel free? Would you feel as if you could just let go? The next time you are quick to judge someone, try instead to put yourself in their shoes and look at the world through their eyes. It could be freeing for both of you. As Mr. Rogers said, "You've made this day a special day by just your being you." This is Joanie Winberg, The Happy Wednesday Lady See you next week!

Success is Happiness

28/08/2007

Today is Happy Wednesday…your “Power” Day Do something to empower yourself! Today’s quote and tips are from Alan Cohen. “The only true measure of success is happiness! We have been taught that the most successful person is the one with the most money, sex appeal, prestige, power, skill, strength, or speed. But the most successful person is the one having the most fun. While your goals are important, none are worth sacrificing your happiness. And what is happiness, but appreciating what you have now? People obsessed with goal achievement evaluate life by how things turn out. People committed to happiness evaluate life by the quality of their experience. If you look back with remorse and devalue experiences because they did not last forever or bring you to where you wanted to end up, you miss the gift of the experience. Savor the experiences as precious gifts that will forever warm your soul. When you remember you are not here just to win, but to play, you end up winning all the time rather than just at the end of the game.” This is Joanie Winberg, The Happy Wednesday Lady See you next week!

Say I Love You More

22/08/2007

Today is Happy Wednesday! Your “Power” day! Today’s quote- "The greatest weakness of most humans is their hesitancy to tell others how much they love them while they are still alive." ~ Orlando A. Battista Today’s empowering tip- I suggest reaching out to the special people in your life and telling them how much you love, care or appreciate them. Maybe give them a big hug! We all want to feel loved. We all need to feel loved and appreciated. Pay attention to how this makes you feel as well as the difference you made in their day and yours. Take it a step further and call someone you haven’t spoken to in a long time and tell them you have been thinking of them. Do it before it is too late! Don’t waste another minute! Such a small investment of your time for a huge return.
