Ray Davies "Celluloid Heroes" You can imagine the excitement at KUT's Studio 1A when we had Ray Davies as our special guest. Once at the forefront of the British Invasion of the ¿60s with The Kinks, he remains a successful critically-acclaimed solo artist. Mary Ann Price "Slow Dancin'" Next is a romantic interlude with an artist who, coincidentally, used to provide backing vocals for The Kinks in the ¿70s: Jazz vocalist Mary Ann Price. She was singing commercial jingles in her hometown of Baltimore and performing jazz in Las Vegas when she was asked to join Dan Hicks And His Hot Licks in 1969. After the band's break-up, she went on to work with the Kinks and then Asleep At the Wheel in 1980, before pursuing her solo career. Alejandro Esco...

She's been putting together solo albums since 2002, but she's also made creative contributions to the music of Kings of Convenience and Broken Social Scene. The Gourds"Promenade" The Gourds combine their love of music with their love of having a good time, and they're not afraid to experiment with different approaches to composing. Take, for example, their 2007 release, Noble Creatures: it was literally based upon a single song with a ukulele chord that was totally discovered by accident. Oliver Rajamani"Zeo" Originally from India, Oliver Rajamani has taken great strides to preserve the music and culture from the South of India to the Mi...

She is the ultimate world music artist, continuing to travel the world, and fluently speaking, and singing in, Spanish or French or Swedish without missing a beat. "Ex" is from her 2006 album, Chocolate and Roses. The Weary Boys "You're the One I Care For" The members of The Weary Boys left their Northern California home to make a living playing music in Austin. It wasn't easy. Like any band, they paid their dues, but hard work and determination paid off. This is definitely an Austin favorite, roots music at its best. Golden Bear "Ten Thousand Orchestras" Make way for music with fanfare and a joyous sound. Austin ...

Toots Hibbert "Do the Reggae" Legendary ska and roots reggae singer Toots Hibbert, of Toots and the Maytals, is often credited for coining the term "reggae." These days, he continues to take his music on the road, and KUT was lucky to have him as a guest in Studio 1A for a live performance.
